CNC Operator

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Operator / Setter / Programmer to join a well-established stainless steel manufacturing business based in Crestmead.  This is a hands-on role operating and programming a Puma 4100 CNC Mill and Puma 240M CNC Lathe, producing precision stainless steel components in a busy workshop environment. You will be responsible for running jobs independently from setup through to completion, ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety at all times.  The role will commence on a casual basis with a strong opportunity to transition to permanent employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, set and program CNC milling and turning machines
  • CNC programming and editing using G-code
  • Full job setup from engineering drawings and specifications
  • Tool selection, offsets, fixtures and work-holding
  • First-off, in-process and final inspections
  • Use precision measuring equipment (verniers, micrometres, bore gauges, etc.)
  • Optimise cycle times and machining processes
  • Identify and troubleshoot machining or tooling issues
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a CNC Operator / Setter / Programmer
  • Strong experience with CNC Mills and CNC Lathes
  • Ability to program, set and run jobs independently
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • High attention to detail and quality standards
  • Experience machining stainless steel (highly regarded)
  • Experience with live tooling and milling on lathes (advantageous)
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented

Tickets & Licences

  • Trade Qualification or equivalent – 1st Class Machining
  • Forklift Licence (essential)
  • Unlimited working rights in Australia
  • Driver’s Licence with own Transport
