Mechanical Fitter

CrewSELECT is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a specialist maintenance team supporting diesel generators and power generation equipment across the Snowy Hydro project in Cooma, NSW.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically minded tradesperson with strong fault-finding skills who enjoys hands-on maintenance, breakdown repairs and working with industrial equipment.

This isn’t just another short-term FIFO assignment! We’re offering long-term work with a genuine temp-to-permanent opportunity for the right candidate.

What’s on Offer?

  • $75 per hour flat rate

  • 2:1 FIFO roster – 2 weeks on, 1 week off

  • 12-hour shifts, including a 30-minute unpaid break

  • Camp accommodation and travel covered

  • Long-term opportunity with a temp-to-perm pathway

FIFO & Roster Details

  • FIFO from anywhere on the East Coast, preferably Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne

  • Fly in Thursday, fly out Friday at the end of your two-week swing

  • Local Cooma candidates encouraged to apply, with alternative rosters available

  • Some travel between sites for installations and breakdowns

  • No local travel allowance from Cooma to site

About the Role

Working across power generation facilities, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing diesel generators and associated mechanical equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair diesel generators and auxiliary equipment

  • Complete preventative maintenance, routine servicing and breakdown repairs

  • Troubleshoot mechanical faults to minimise equipment downtime

  • Undertake on-site installations and provide on-call breakdown support when available

  • Complete accurate service reports and maintain safety and quality standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter – Certificate III Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent

  • Strong mechanical fault-finding, servicing and maintenance experience

  • Previous diesel generator or power generation maintenance experience highly regarded

  • Ability to work independently and within a team, with good communication and basic computer skills

  • Reliable, safety-focused and committed to delivering quality workmanship

Mandatory Requirements

  • Relevant Mechanical Trade Qualification

  • Current Manual Driver’s Licence

  • Construction White Card

  • National Police Clearance (NPC)

  • Full Australian working rights
