Potential Pathway to Mechanical Fitting Apprenticeship

Location: Mackay, QLD
Pay: $35/hour + penalties
Hours:

  • 38-hour week
  • Monday to Thursday: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Friday: 6:30 AM – 10:30 AM (early finish!)

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Trades Assistant to join our client’s busy workshop in Mackay. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin a career in the mechanical trades – no formal experience necessary, as full training will be provided to the right candidate.

After 6–12 months, there is the potential to transition into a Mechanical Fitting Apprenticeship, making this a great opportunity for individuals looking to develop a long-term career.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with general workshop duties and maintenance
  • Use hand and power tools for assembly and fabrication
  • Read and interpret diagrams and blueprints
  • Maintain high safety and quality standards
  • Work under the guidance of skilled tradespeople

Role Requirements:

Experience:

  • Assembly experience and familiarity with hand and power tools are highly desirable but not essential.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Reliable and physically fit
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to read diagrams and blueprints
  • Safety-focused and proactive
  • Willingness to learn with the potential for an apprenticeship in Mechanical Fitting

Licences:

  • Forklift Licence (preferred but not essential)
  • Current Driver’s Licence and reliable transport

Eligibility:

  • Must have full working rights in Australia


Eligibility for Apprenticeship Pathway:

This role has the potential to lead to a fully funded apprenticeship under the Queensland Government’s Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s initiative.
To be eligible for this program, candidates must be under the age of 25 at the time of commencing the apprenticeship.
