Workshop Supervisor / Leading Hand – Switchboards

Workshop Based | Perth Metro | $50–$55/hr + Penalties + Vehicle

We are currently seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor / Leading Hand to oversee switchboard manufacturing operations within a well-established Perth-based workshop.


About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership position where you will supervise daily workshop operations while remaining actively involved in switchboard assembly, wiring and testing. You will play a key role in ensuring all builds are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead switchboard manufacturing operations
  • Oversee day-to-day production, ensuring jobs are delivered on time and to specification
  • Provide hands-on leadership and technical guidance to electricians, fitters and apprentices
  • Allocate tasks, set priorities and manage workflow across the workshop
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, WHS requirements and company procedures
  • Maintain high levels of quality, productivity and workmanship
  • Read and interpret schematics, drawings and job documentation
  • Act as the link between workshop, management and project teams

Duties

  • Conduct quality checks prior to dispatch
  • Assist with fault finding, troubleshooting and testing
  • Mentor and support apprentices and tradespeople
  • Participate in toolbox talks and enforce safe work practices
  • Maintain accurate records relating to production, quality and safety

Experience Required

  • Proven experience in switchboard manufacturing (commercial and/or industrial)
  • Previous experience as a Leading Hand, Supervisor or Senior Tradesperson
  • Strong knowledge of switchboard construction, wiring and testing
  • Experience coordinating teams within a workshop environment
  • Solid understanding of Australian Electrical Standards

Qualifications

  • WA Electrical Licence – A-Grade Electrician or Fitter Mechanic (essential)
  • Electrical Trade Qualification
  • White Card
  • Additional supervisory or safety training (advantageous)

  • $50–$55/hr + penalties (permanent rate)
  • Company vehicle (optional – salary adjustment available)
  • 40-hour week | 9-day fortnight
  • Hours: 6:00am–3:00pm Mon–Thurs, 6:00am–2:30pm Fri
  • Opportunity to transition from casual to permanent
  • Stable, long-term leadership role
