At CrewSELECT, we have always made the safety of workers our top priority. As a labour hire agency, we do not always have direct control or management of the workplaces we support; however, we take our legal duties and responsibilities as the employer of on-hired workers extremely seriously – and we believe all workforce agencies should have the same duty of care.

Our team maintains a consistent focus on safe project outcomes, which means we work with our clients to understand their workforce needs and tailor labour hire solutions that are right for them. Here are some of the steps we undertake to ensure safe work placements for all of our mechanical, electrical and fabrication roles.

1. Site-Specific Inductions

In alignment with the CrewSELECT culture of care, we consult extensively with host employers to make certain that appropriate inducting and training is provided to everyone. Our labour hire teams are given site-specific Occupational Health and Safety (WHS) training and information.

The induction process includes knowledge about the host workplace, including details of any workplace hazards and their safety controls. We also ensure that our workers are given appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) and access to First Aid kits to complete their duties safely.

2. Regular Site Assessment

For each new host employer, we conduct regular worksite visits to evaluate their safety procedures. We also learn how we can support the host employer, so when we supply workers for that site, we have all the information we need to enable the right fit. We pay close attention to each worker’s capacity and experience, so we’re confident that a job can be completed safely and skillfully.

CrewSELECT maintains detailed training registers that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and capability of all our workers. We provide thorough task descriptions to our labour force, to ensure they can carry out assigned projects without harm.

3. 24/7 Support for Workers and Clients

CrewSELECT establishes steady communication with both our on-hired workers and their employers. We certify that host workplaces implement all necessary health and safety requirements, and maintain a proactive approach to any new or potential OHS risks that arise. Our commitment to monitoring includes a 24/7 support team and a complete OHS management system.

Throughout our years as a workforce agency, we have learned that when workers know that their employers are dedicated to creating a safe work environment, they are more likely to adopt good practices themselves. A commitment to safety results in fewer OHS related accidents, along with increased employee engagement – a win, win!

At CrewSELECT, we’re trying to change the industry for all the right reasons. If your labour-hire agency doesn’t follow basic safety guidelines, consider the risk you take with your workers and your reputation, and speak to an expert member of the CrewSELECT team today.
